Desperate for money after her brother deserts the family, Jenny takes a job in the Mercury Theatre as dresser to ambitious and provocative actress Lilith Erikson. I really enjoyed the world created by this novel – the colourful characters, the intricate details of theatre life and the sense of unease and tension as Jenny battles the malign influence of the muse before it destroys them all…
