Health and wellbeing forms an important part of our libraries offer for the people of East Riding of Yorkshire

Our libraries act as community hubs, bringing people from towns and rural communities together in safe and welcoming environments and are regularly used by those looking for company and support, helping to tackle social isolation and loneliness.

Events and activities

Take a trip down memory lane at your local East Riding Library. 

Use our great range of memory boxes containing items such as photographs, books and even food packaging to relive the sights and sounds of days gone by.

Reminiscence is a social group for older people to meet new friends and have fun sharing stories. Reminiscence is also proven to be beneficial for those living with Dementia and their carers, and is endorsed by the Alzheimer’s society. 

Contact your local library for details on your nearest session.

Reminiscence in the Community

Do your loved ones live in Supported Housing or in Care Homes in the area? We can bring our successful person centred Reminiscence into your settings.

For a charge, the sessions which already run in branch libraries can be delivered to people who may be living with mid to late stage Dementia in any care setting.

Reading Well for mental health provides helpful information and support for managing common mental health conditions, or dealing with difficult feelings and experiences.

Some books also include personal stories from people who are living with or caring for someone with mental health needs.
