Winnie's best friend Iggie has moved away. Since life is boring without her, Winnie is determined to make friends with the new family, the Garbers. But some people don't like the Garbers, because they're black - including Winnie's parents.
This is a nice little story and it’s simple. I like the illustrations on the front and that it’s green. And the authors name is in pink and orange. It has no illustrations in the book but I don’t mind. I never read an American book before and I was surprised that Judy Blume (the author) came from America! She’s as old as Jacqueline Wilson! I knew from what Winnie (Winnifred) was saying, how she said things and from where the characters lived and what they called their food that it was set in the USA. I love Winnie’s personality, it’s different from what characters I’ve read about before. This book proves that: Just because they have dark skin, dosent mean the person/people are bad. You should get to know them for their kindness before judging them.
